The Spine and Page

Corrections

We correct errors. If a factual error is found on a reference page at thespineandpage, we will correct the information rather than delete the page. This ensures the record is amended while preserving the page's utility. A correction will be noted at the foot of the article. The note will state what was corrected and the date the change was made.

A substantive correction is for a verifiable fact that is wrong. This includes incorrect publication dates, mistaken author attributions, inaccurate prize listings or false details about a translation. Minor typographical errors, formatting issues or rewording for clarity are updated without a formal correction note.

To report an error, please provide the full address of the article and quote the exact claim you believe is incorrect. Specify the correct information and, if possible, provide a reliable source. This allows us to verify and act upon your report efficiently. We aim to review and implement substantive corrections within five working days.

The facts on our reference pages are sometimes corrected because the world changes, not because our original entry was wrong. For instance, a book may win a prize after our entry was first published, or a new translation might be released. In such cases, we update the page to reflect the new information and append a correction note explaining the update, such as 'Updated to include 2024 prize award.'
